How do I know which scent is for me?

Please visit our Order page for detailed descriptions. See which scents speak to you!

What does the small S, M and, L stand for in the corner of the label?

To help with your candle selection, I came up with a system to help you determine how my candles will perform in a particular room.  Regardless what size candle you order, it will have a room size designation. These designations will be L (Large), M (Medium) and S (Small).  These designations will be visible on the lower right corner of the labels.  A single candle with an L will fill a large room with fragrance.  A single candle with an S will be less noticeable in a large room and is better suited for a small space.  If your favorite scent contains an M or an S, consider buying two if you plan to burn them in a large or open area.  The room designation is not indicative of physical candle size.

What are your candles made of?

High-quality waxes, fragrance oils and essential oils.

What sizes do your candles come in?

Currently, we offer a line of 7 oz jar candles.  As we grow, we plan to expand our line to larger candles including double wicked jars and possibly triple wicked jars!

What is your return policy?

We allow the return of items within 30 days of your order date.  Just send us an email and we’ll send you a return label.  We can only accept unlit candles at this time.  We know everyone has a different nose, so please also consider gifting your candle instead of returning it.

How do I care for my candle?

  • On the first burn, let the melted wax reach the edge of the container

  • Keep the wick trimmed to 1/4" inch, even while burning

  • Do not burn your candle for more than 3 - 4 hours

  • Never leave your candle unattended while burning

  • Always monitor your candle near small children and pets

  • Always burn candles on a heat resistant surface

  • Keep loose material, such as curtains or clothing, away from a burning candle

  • If the flame is dancing too much, extinguish it, trim to 1/4" of an inch and re-light

How long does shipping take?

Typically orders ship within 1 – 3 days.  Many of our candles are made-to-order; however, we do sometimes have inventory on hand and your product may ship sooner.  During the hot summer months, we aim to ship on Mondays and Tuesdays so we avoid candles sitting in hot trucks over the weekend.  Thanks for your understanding!

Social Responsibility

At Light Your Fire Candles we do out best to be socially responsible. We use biodegradable peanuts in much of our packaging and reuse shipping boxes in an effort to have a smaller impact on the environment.

Animal Sensitivity

As mentioned in my About section, I have a dog named Zeke. When I burn or make my candles, the scent does not seem to bother him. When making candles, the fragrance oils used are concentrated, so I always have windows open for cross ventilation. I love my furbaby just as much as you, so I always want him to be safe and comfortable.

A Fragrance Profile is made up of…

Notes - A “note” is a fancy word us chandlers use to describe what you smell when you’re burning a candle.

Top - Top notes indicate the first scent you notice when burning a candle.

Middle - The middle note is more complex than the top note and often adds balance to the top and/or base note.

Base - Base notes are often the longest lasting scent found in the air.  Base notes are often made up of musky or woodsy scents.

Definitions

Cold Throw -  Cold throw is the scent the user can detect when the candle is not lit and cold.  The scent is “thrown” through the air.

Hot Throw - Hot throw is the scent the user can detect when the candle is lit and hot.  Hot throw can be more complex than the cold throw and travel further.

Melt Pool - Melt pool refers to the amount of melted wax that has pooled around the flame.  Remember to let the melt pool reach the sides of the container on the first burn.

Mushrooming - Mushrooming is when carbon builds up at the top of the wick forming what looks like a mushroom shape.  The mushroom can be easily trimmed off before relighting your candle on the next burn.  Remember to trim your wick to 1/4 of an inch.

A customer sent Light Your Fire Candle Co. this picture and commented how cleanly the Light Your Fire candle burned (GREEN), noting that the competitor’s candle (WHITE) left lots of wax residue on the sides.
