Fragrance Testing

I thought I would chat a little about candle testing.  Scents in particular.  I’ve been playing with creating an outdoor and adventure (masculine) line.  I’ve had several requests for woodsy, outdoors and fire scents over the past few months.  When brainstorming for what to make, I take what people have asked for into consideration and also what I think might be good.  Currently I’m crafting a scent that captures a campfire scent, with an earthy/woody, crisp pine scent.  It ended up being several different oils, but after a few attempts I think I crafted a winner.  I’m hoping to drop it soon.  It’s going to be called Fireside Forrest!

Fragrance testing can be expensive as you may have to make several different candles, tweaking the amount of each fragrance oil.  You not only have to manage the total fragrance oil load, but also the amount of each.  Sometimes 50/50 works.  Sometimes 50/25/25 is best.  One of my best sellers is a 50/30/20 combo of three different oils.  I’m always open to new ideas and enjoy the process of creating.  If you’re reading this and have an idea, please send me a message on Instagram or Facebook.  Your idea could be my next candle!
